Leviticus 5

Sins Requiring a Sin Offering

5"If you are called to testify about something you have seen or that you know about, it is sinful to refuse to testify, and you will be punished for your sin.H5315H2398H8085H6963H423H5707H176H7200H3045H5046H5375H57712"Or suppose you unknowingly touch something that is ceremonially unclean, such as the carcass of an unclean animal. When you realize what you have done, you must admit your defilement and your guilt. This is true whether it is a wild animal, a domestic animal, or an animal that scurries along the ground.H5315H5060H2931H1697H5038H2931H2416H5038H2931H929H5038H2931H8318H5956H2931H8163"Or suppose you unknowingly touch something that makes a person unclean. When you realize what you have done, you must admit your guilt.H5060H2932H120H2932H2930H5956H3045H8164"Or suppose you make a foolish vow of any kind, whether its purpose is for good or for bad. When you realize its foolishness, you must admit your guilt.H5315H7650H981H8193H7489H3190H120H981H7621H5956H3045H816H2595"When you become aware of your guilt in any of these ways, you must confess your sin.H816H259H3034H23986Then you must bring to the LORD as the penalty for your sin a female from the flock, either a sheep or a goat. This is a sin offering with which the priest will purify you from your sin, making you right with the LORDc.H935H817H3068H2403H2398H5347H6629H3776H8166H5795H2403H3548H3722H24037"But if you cannot afford to bring a sheep, you may bring to the LORD two turtledoves or two young pigeons as the penalty for your sin. One of the birds will be for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering.H3027H1767H5060H7716H935H854H817H2398H8147H8449H8147H1121H3123H3068H259H2403H259H59308You must bring them to the priest, who will present the first bird as the sin offering. He will wring its neck but without severing its head from the body.H935H3548H7126H2403H7223H4454H7218H4136H6203H9149Then he will sprinkle some of the blood of the sin offering against the sides of the altar, and the rest of the blood will be drained out at the base of the altar. This is an offering for sin.H5137H1818H2403H7023H4196H7604H1818H4680H3247H4196H240310The priest will then prepare the second bird as a burnt offering, following all the procedures that have been prescribed. Through this process the priest will purify you from your sin, making you right with the LORD, and you will be forgiven.H6213H8145H5930H4941H3548H3722H2403H2398H554511"If you cannot afford to bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons, you may bring two quartsc of choice flour for your sin offering. Since it is an offering for sin, you must not moisten it with olive oil or put any frankincense on it.H3027H5381H8147H8449H8147H1121H3123H2398H935H7133H6224H374H5560H2403H7760H8081H5414H3828H240312Take the flour to the priest, who will scoop out a handful as a representative portion. He will burn it on the altar on top of the special gifts presented to the LORD. It is an offering for sin.H935H3548H3548H7061H4393H7062H234H6999H4196H801H3068H240313Through this process, the priest will purify those who are guilty of any of these sins, making them right with the LORD, and they will be forgiven. The rest of the flour will belong to the priest, just as with the grain offering."H3548H3722H2403H2398H259H5545H3548H4503

Procedures for the Guilt Offering

14Then the LORD said to Moses,H3068H1696H4872H55915"If one of you commits a sin by unintentionally defiling the LORD's sacred property, you must bring a guilt offering to the LORD. The offering must be your own ram with no defects, or you may buy one of equal value with silver, as measured by the weight of the sanctuary shekelc.H5315H4603H4604H2398H7684H6944H3068H935H817H3068H352H8549H6629H6187H8255H3701H8255H6944H81716You must make restitution for the sacred property you have harmed by paying for the loss, plus an additional 20 percent. When you give the payment to the priest, he will purify you with the ram sacrificed as a guilt offering, making you right with the LORD, and you will be forgiven.H7999H2398H6944H3254H2549H5414H3548H3548H3722H352H817H554517"Suppose you sin by violating one of the LORD's commands. Even if you are unaware of what you have done, you are guilty and will be punished for your sin.H5315H2398H6213H259H6213H4687H3068H3045H816H5375H577118For a guilt offering, you must bring to the priest your own ram with no defects, or you may buy one of equal value. Through this process the priest will purify you from your unintentional sin, making you right with the LORD, and you will be forgiven.H935H352H8549H6629H6187H817H3548H3548H3722H7684H7683H3045H554519This is a guilt offering, for you have been guilty of an offense against the LORD."H817H816H816H3068

6cThen the LORD said to Moses,H3068H1696H4872H5592"Suppose one of you sins against your associate and is unfaithful to the LORD. You must give back whatever you stole, or the money you took by extortion, or the security deposit, or the lost property you found,H2398H816H7725H1500H1497H6233H6231H6487H853H6485H9H46725or anything obtained by swearing falsely. You must make restitution by paying the full price plus an additional 20 percent to the person you have harmed. On the same day you must present a guilt offering.H7650H8267H7999H7218H3254H2549H3254H5414H3117H8196As a guilt offering to the LORD, you must bring to the priest your own ram with no defects, or you may buy one of equal value.H935H817H3068H352H8549H6629H6187H817H35487Through this process, the priest will purify you before the LORD, making you right with himc, and you will be forgiven for any of these sins you have committed."H3548H3722H6440H3068H5545H259H6213H819

Be my rock of protection, a fortress where I will be safe.H5186H241H5337H4120H4581H6697H1004H4686H34673You are my rock and my fortress. For the honor of your name, lead me out of this danger.H5553H4686H8034H5148H50954Pull me from the trap my enemies set for me, for I find protection in you alone.H3318H7568H2098H2934H45815I entrust my spirit into your hand.
