92:12-15 The Everlasting Sabbath. Cf. Heb. 4:9. This section describes the permanent security enjoyed by the faithful. They flourish like the palm tree (Ps. 92:12; the date palm, long-lived and stately, cf. v. 14), and they flourish in the courts of our God, which indicates enduring residence in God's presence (cf. 23:6) as opposed to the temporary "flourishing" of the evildoers (92:7), who "are doomed to destruction." In these courts, the faithful will declare (cf. v. 2) with enjoyment God's perfect faithfulness and righteousness. For the imagery of a tree, cf. 1:3. This passage, with its aura of permanent vitality, enables the faithful to look forward to an eternity in God's presence, singing his praise (see note on 23:5-6).
