Scripture Reflection by Sang Sur on Exodus 19:9-11 posted January 23, 2025 - Prayer Tents

God who is always there, but His presence is much closer at times.
We tend to think of our Father-God who is always available. That is true, but the fallacy of only thinking that way is that we might assume His continual omnipresence and disregard Him.
What we need is His powerful encounter to drive us through the tasks He has given us. Encountering Him in that way was not a rolling out of bed in our comfort. It required preparation, certainly giving our best, but also a prepared heart ready to receive and obey.
So, let’s stop from time to time, especially on the Sabbath, and prepare ourselves to encounter the mighty God, so that He may direct us and we may obey.
9GOD said to Moses, “Get ready. I’m about to come to you in a thick cloud so that the people can listen in and trust you completely when I speak with you.” Again Moses reported the people’s answer to GOD. 10GOD said to Moses, “Go to the people. For the next two days get these people ready to meet the Holy GOD. Have them scrub their clothes 11so that on the third day they’ll be fully prepared, because on the third day GOD will come down on Mount Sinai and make his presence known to all the people.

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
