ELDAD

(Heb. ʾeldāḏ)

One of 70 men chosen by Moses to receive the spirit of prophecy before the tent of meeting. When Eldad and Medad remained in the camp, Joshua became perturbed at their irregular behavior (perhaps ecstatic prophecy), to which Moses replied, “Would that all the Lord’s people were prophets” (Num. 11:26-30).
