ASIARCH

(Gk. asiárchēs)

Title of deputies of the assembly of Asia (Gk. koinón Asías), which met regularly in Ephesus, the capital of the Roman province of Asia Minor. Holding the office for a fixed term, the Asiarchs were often from leading families of major cities. They frequently were benefactors of the city’s public celebrations and participated in civic and provincial government and the cult of the emperors. Asiarchs may have held temple titles, acting as leaders in local deity worship. Some of the Asiarchs are described as friends of Paul, who seek to protect him from a rioting crowd (Acts 19:31).

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
