ANT

Most likely the ants (Heb. nĕmā) mentioned in Prov. 6:6-8; 30:25 are harvester ants (Messor Semirufus), the most frequent species in Israel today. Storing food during the harvest for use during the wintertime, the ant embodied two great virtues, diligence and wisdom. Actually, the ants either enter a state of dormancy when it is cold or continue working all year around. Obviously, the ants’ endless carrying of grains, leaves, and matter to their ant-heaps must have been the grounds for the proverbial sayings.

Rabbinical literature discusses the damage caused by ants and even describes a kind of biological control. If soil were brought from one ant-heap to another, the two groups of ants would destroy each other (Moʿed Qa. 6b) because each colony has its own distinct smell.

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
